Just after Christmas – a year after our cat Joey passed away – my daughter informed me that she could no longer live life catless. We needed two cats — pronto!
She was quite specific in her wants. Both cats had to be long-haired. One needed to be gray with blue eyes and the other dark and rather rotund (or at least big boned). Oh, and they needed to be from the same litter AND male. I told her that the chances of finding what she wanted was impossible, but I would start looking on Pet Finder for kittens to young adults in a 100-mile area. Each day, I checked Pet Finder, concentrating on long-haired male cats.
One day, a co-worker came to me for help because she couldn’t get Ustream to work on her computer. She was trying to watch a kitten-cam showing kittens owned by the daughter of another co-worker. I was able to get the site running and mentioned how sweet they looked. When I got back to my office, there was an email with the cam link waiting in my inbox.
We continued looking for the kittens on Pet Finder. But I would find myself sneaking peaks at the web cam here and there. These kittens were the subject of many talks over the water cooler by many co-workers at my office.
I never gave the kittens on the web cam a thought since I was under the impression they were all spoken for. Then, one day, I received an email saying that the kittens were ready for adoption and if anyone were interested, let them know. I didn’t even have to think about it. God put it in my heart to say I’d take all three.
Now, I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe God brought 3 kittens together with people all over the world through Josh and Ashleigh who put the web cam up. I believe God brought me into the mix because
1) We were looking for two kittens
2) We had the capacity to love all three of the kittens in this litter
3) I have a computer science degree in Internet Management and am capable of continuing the web presence of these kittens.
Only the hand of God could bring about all of the “coincidences” that has led to the final outcome. What a glorious life He has given me! I’m now the forever person of three wonderful kittens and I have made so many new friends from all over the world. How cool is that?!?!
